Men’s Briefcases

I’m not going to be long with this one – just thought I’d post up a link I found on AskMen about briefcases here: http://www.askmen.com/fashion/fashiontip_600/622_mens-briefcases-sachin-on-fashion.html

If you thought briefcases are obsolete, think again. They’re hot and they work great for a biz attire.

How can a man hide the fact that he’s short?

There are plenty of ways of doing that, in fact.

It’s not really “hiding it”, it’s making yourself look taller. All the gimmicks you can use to achieve this can be basically split into two main categories:

- tricks for phisically increasing your height

- tricks for making yourself appear more “elongated”

You can find all of them in this article about short men style but let me give you some specific examples:

For physically increasing your height, you can do things such as wearing a hat or shoes with a thicker sole. These will increase your height with a few inches the moment you wear them.

The second category deals with appearances. You won’t really look taller but the human eye will certainly perceive you taller.

Things like wearing vertical stripes or the same color top to bottom can achieve this effect.

These are just some common examples, you can come up with your own if you spend some time thinking about it. Or, just read the article from the link above to get a lot more tricks.

The bottom line: when you look taller, you look more attractive.

The Difference Between Fashion and Style

One of the things that gets both men and women confused is the difference between fashion and style. Most people don’t know which is which and, as a result, they use it interchangeably. Let me give you two really-really short definitions for both.

Fashion is what other people is awesome to wear.

Style is what looks really awesome on YOU.

From a simple person’s perspective (i.e. if you’re not a fashion designer), style is way more important than fashion. I’m sure you want to wear the clothes that make you look great and have people notice this.

Big designer houses have made a habit of “imposing” what people should wear. Now, this doesn’t mean they force you to wear one thing or the other but their recommendations don’t seem to follow any patterns other than their own imagination.

Think about it: denim is hot one year, the next year they forbid you to wear it. Did, all of the sudden, denim stopped looking good on everyone?

No, of course not. But the changing of the trend forces you to buy something new the next year, even if your denim jacket fits you perfectly. The fashion industry profits need to be at high levels year after year, right?

For us guys, fashion trends are not that moody, though. I guess we’re a little lucky. But still, men’s fashion industry doesn’t keep in mind to educate the individual on how to dress.

Lucky for us, the Internet has some pretty good books and resources. Askmen, GQ and Esquire provide good info, although they seem to be paid a lot of money to promote certain products over the others.

A great men’s style book can be found at BeStylish.org, which literally takes you from head to toes when it comes about how to dress to look awesome.

The really cool thing about learning to be stylish is that you get to see amazing reactions from those around you. When matching colors and patterns, the eye sees it and it’s instantly attracted to the combination.

Of course, you don’t want to go directly into the mall, after reading this, and get the shiniest clothes out there. Start small until you learn the basics, thenĀ  gradually build better and better outfits.

There’s a fine line between that sharp confident stylish guy and one that’s just gay. Clothes send a message about you so make sure it’s the right one.
